Tire rotation question

I have 3 fairly new tires on my car (bought at the same time), I've put 5000 miles on them. I have 1 older tire with about 20k miles in the right rear. I was wondering if I should rotate them? The only problem is that the right rear tire is more worn than the 3 new ones of course, so I may have problems with traction in the winter time if I move the older tire up front. (Car is a FWD Buick). Do you guys think I should wait a few months until the snowy months have passed and rotate them then? By that point I'll have probably put 10k miles on the 3 new tires, and I don't want to wear them out prematurely.

Just rotated mine. Tire guy said to rotate every 6-8 k miles, regardless. Just keep an eye on the older tire, and consider replacing it when necessary. Of course, 20 k miles ain't a whole lot for a modern tire......

If you have a full size spare you could put it into the rotation and use the older one as the spare.

That is about all I get out of a set.

I very seldom wail on my car, but I seem to sail through front tires at an alarming pace myself. That's why I want to rotate them at the proper intervals. I've been taking it especially easy on the new tires, not cornering too hard, no burning rubber, proper alignment, so hopefully these will last 50k miles like they are supposed to:) My last set of front tires wore out in 15k miles, but they were an off-brand.

You bought 3 tires? And they let you? Man you got bad service I would say. You should always buy tires in pairs.
