Ive got a 2007 Toyota Camry and need new tires. The car is rated for V tires. Here's the problem: one guy we know insists that V-rated tired (or H-rated tires) are not necessary at all and that i should get S or T rated tires. V or H rated tires are really expensive, and the speed rating is up to 150 and 130 respectively.
However, a few other people, not just people at the tire dealers I went to (as in, some of these people have no stake in me buying more expensive tires), say that if I go too far below V rated tires (H rated is fine), the handling and ride will be worse.
Any ideas? We ended up with pretty expensive H-rated tires at Costco (my mom's preference). They have pretty sweet warranty and other features included with the price and we like Costco a lot. They're Michelins and have a 60000 mile tire warranty. The few people I asked said Michelins were quite good, and I stayed pretty close to the V-rating, so I'm happy, although not at the price.
So confused. Now the guy who says that it doesn't matter what type of tires I put on my car is pissed because he thinks I don't listen to him.
Help me AT garage.
