Tire changing places.

I noticed that after I got my '04 Mazda6 new Mich Ps2's tires put on, that my rims were scuffed up a little. (some places of the rims had the clear coat scraped off) I was'nt too worried but they were new/factory rims! Next time I get this done, I'll let them know.
I was just thinkinng about people with the real expensive rims, how does a tire change place handle these? Or do the just do the same thing?

Was the place I went to careless or can places like this avoid damaging rims.
(Went to SEARS for the tire change)

Anyone else have an experience like this?

Bad idea holding off on telling them. I would inform them ASAP and demand some type of compensation. Maybe a half off cupon on your next set of tires.

I am in a similar boat, but I haven't taken my car in. My problem is I want the tire balancing weight in the inside of my rim so it doesn't corrode sometime down the line. I have a 2005 Mustang GT and I don't want my rims all scuffed up.

Just make it very clear that your wheels are important, and that you absolutely do not want wheel weights on the outside of your wheel.

If you let them know how important your wheels (and car) are to you, and that you'll notice any little mistake, then they'll be extra careful.

I'm about to buy some 18" BBS RG-Rs ($600 per wheel), and I'm very concerned that the local Discount Tire might damage them. It never hurts to take close of photos of all your wheels before you take it in. That way you have proof.

The weights are already on the outside of the wheel, I want them replaced with inside ones. Just a little nervous is all.

Tell them that if they mess it up, you'll burn the place down. Use the phrase "I swear to god" liberally.

for ppl w/ spensive rims.. you go to a place that will gaurantee they won't screw it up. friend of mine gets his stuff done at a place like this. he got his tires here too.. they recently patched a tire for him for free.. and included rebalancing to make sure it was good to go.

Hah, I can assure you that's the quickest route to getting the worst service possible.

I'd call them up and let them know what you found and see if they would be willing to have them refinished or whatever is needed to get them back to how they were before.

That's why I always take pictures of things before I let people work on them. Whether it's taking some electronics in for repair, car work, etc. Unless you have proof, there's not always much you can do. But see if they'll fix it out of the goodness of their hearts. It's Sears so they might be more willing to do things than some rinky dink repair place.
