Tiptoing into the + 200 FSB club, could use some suggestions

Hi all. I've been running my 2500@3200 for a while now and just decided it was time to see what this ram/cpu can do. For the record my rig is in my sig for your perusal.

Now, down to business.... I just have a few questions regarding timings / fsb and will try to take up as minimal space as possible.

1. I set my ram to relaxed timings 7-3-3-2.0 just to ensure timings won't take affect on the oc stability. Now, if/when I hit my ceiling that won't allow 5-3-2-2.0, should I back off to the previous setting that will take it?? Or is more raw fsb better than a little tighter timings??

2. Currently I am at 10.5 x 215 at 1:1 stable with the above timings. I am going to test it at 5-3-2-2 and then if all is good there I will go 10.5x220. Now, if this ISNT stable at 5-3-3-2 should I go to 10x220 and run those timings or keep it there with relaxed timings?

Hope that garble made sense as I had a long day of football watching 🙂 and please feel free to offer any more suggestions. Thank you for your help.

So I'm currently @ 10x220 at 1.7 vcore, 2.8vdimm with 5 3 2 2.0. Seems pretty impressive with 3200 RAM. It will boot into windows fine at 1:1 with 10x225 but fails Prime95 on first test, even after upping vcore to 1.75 and relaxing timings.

Now my next question is should I run 5:4 and go for 225+ or just stay at 1:1 with 220 FSB?

Absolutely NOT. This trick doesn't work with Athlon XP's, only P4's. I would imagine you're nearing the limits of the FSB the CPU is capable of, so you may only get a few more Mhz out of it... definately not worth it. I'm still trying to work some RAM into my budget that's capable of running 230 Mhz since I'm positive my CPU can.

He should've posted on that thread by now... Judging by the fact that you're asking me, he must not have. I'll see what's up at work today, thank you for pointing that out. 🙂
