I'll be going with my family in early June. Just tenting it. Where should we stay, what site is your favorite? What is there to do, or should we do besides hiking and fishing and general outdoors stuff? Any advice would be great. Thanks.

You actually don't want to go to Redwood NP. The State Parks are better. In particular, Humboldt Redwoods, Prairie Creek Redwoods, and Jedediah Smith Redwoods. I've only camped at Humboldt (and only for one night) at the Albee Creek Campground, but it was good enough.

Look for camping reservations on http://www.reserveamerica.com/.

The Boy Scout Tree trail at Jedediah Smith is quite nice and the road to it is sweet (dirt road through the huge trees). Don't worry about the dirt (unless super wet), it's hard compacted and fine in an economy car.

i stayed a few nights at the albee creek campgroud (albeit back in 99, right out of high school). i found between hiking, fishing, and staying high as a kite (getting closer to nature!) there was more than enough to fill the days.

it was absolutely beautiful up there. also, not sure how it is now, but ive come across more people while hunting off trail than i did there. once i was out of the campgroud area i didnt come across a single person.

Make camping reservations ahead of time and leave your electronic gear at home.
