Where can I find info on doing advanced taxes? My tax return should really be pretty basic, except for the fact that I will be claiming interest for my mortgage. Doing taxes previously was a piece of cake, and I figure this pretty much will be also, but I've never really looked into it.

Anyone want to help me out or point me in the right direction of where I can find out how to itemize?

Thanks!

It's still a piece of cake. Just one more form to fill out. Look up the instructions on Schedule A to figure your itemized deductions. You will probably only have a couple on there anyway. State income tax (if you have any), mortgage interest and points and any charitable contributions (up to $500) plus church offerings if any.

This will be my first year doing the very same thing as you but I've used TurboTax Online for the past three tax seasons and it damn near holds your hand through the whole process so I'm not worried at all. Check it out if you can as there is no fee until you file. Very intuitive and a lot of helpful hints.

turbotax online is great

it even automatically downloads the 1098's from many banks so you don't need to fill it out. the 1098 is the form that the bank sends you to tell you how much interest you paid.
