Tips for transferring VHS to DVD.

Does anyone have any experience and tips for transferring VHS tapes to DVD? Like what would be the best VCR to use as the source and what capture device? I would also appreciate any recommendations for software. I'd like a very intuitive and easy to use program (PC).

If you're just going to be transferring VHS to DVD without any editing, I would use a VHS-DVD box to do all your conversions.

Thanks ChAo, but I do plan to edit the tapes because they have of all kinds of small clips that I need to put in order.
