having recently assembled a system with a soyo dragon +, amd athlon xp, ati radeon 8500, 60gig hd, 256 ddr, etc, there are a few things that I have learned about setting a system like this up with minimal instability.
1. get latest drivers, and latest bios revisions for the soyo. kinda no brainer.
2. turn off power management on either the motherboard or the OS. they conflict and if the pc is left in sleep mode for too long a screen of colored stripes will appear. if this happens, hitting the sleep button on the keyboard and then waking it back up will work.
and I'm still working on this machine, as it will still occasionally crash while websurfing, though not as bad as when it was first built.
