Hello I have begun the process of building a new gaming system. I am not the most knowledgable computer person. I would like to build a system that works great for the high end games out there, such as Halflife2, WOW, DOOM 3, etc...
As of now i have:

1) ABIT AV8 Mobo
2) thermaltake 480w psu
3) Athlon 64 3000+
4) Corsair DDR 512 XMS pc3200
5) 200Gb seagate barracuda SATA drive
6) Windows Xp professional

I would like to know about: other things i could get to optimize my gaming system, and making the most out of my components. I am also searching for compatibility.
IF anyone has the time, give me some advice for the dream gaming system.

You need a gig of RAM; get value RAM if you need to--you don't need anything more unless overclocking the memory.

How much do you have to spend on a graphics card?

this system thread might help.

For parts, most people here recommend newegg.com and to a lesser extent zipzoomfly.com, monarch.com, and mwave.com

Also use the tabs at the top of this page, including Video, CPU/chipsets, Storage, and Guides.
