> Freshmen year sucks. Don't try too hard.

Or since you're taking a lot of easy classes, make an effort and get a bunch of As.

There are many threads here from people struggling to raise their GPA in the last year because they bombed year one with too much partying.

For a lot of fields GPA does matter, for grad school, for getting internships / co-op, and for getting your first real job.

Lol I graduated from highschoo @ 16...started college at the same age (during summer) began my freshman @ fall 2003....lalalalala. I tried so hard for myself...reading all the pages in the book word by word...never works. It is always ask a professor/instructor questions on regarding a particular topic/ or stuff that is necessary for a test. Always do know your stuff before lecture starts, at least get an indea..since the pages are already in the syllabus...don't cheat...don't miss class, since you don't know if there is an extra credit day...always know your proffessor, get to know them. Don't take the information in the books seriously, just a general idea of the subject always help, over study is over doing

Especially, get enough sleep. I cannot stress this so much. Sleep can make a difference from success or pure suxxness. take notes during lectures, at least what the professor wants to say. Highlighter helps..yeah all the pretty colours.

Just as of now...later this fall will be my..not sure 3 fall semester, as a junior..hopefully I can enter my university's nursing program. If I'm in....i'm going to Sh1t my pants

Don't be afraid to kick people out of group projects if they don't do anything.
That is all :p

lol yeah, usually my professor tells me ahead of time. But sometimes I would miss class (for some reason). then the next lecture day, I asked my classmates of what I'd miss, and usually it ends up and said "she/he gave us extra credits :D"

Don't buy books right at the start, relax and start your classes, see how the courses are etc...for some you won't even need the book cause it's ez stuff. I know tons of freshies blow mad loads of $$$ on all the books right before they even hit class.

I've had at least three classes in which test questions came from the book. I had one class that was quite difficult because material the professor hardly mentioned in class was on the test. You guessed it...it was in the book. The other two, the professor basically taught out of the book, and sometimes had open-book tests. Not all classes require heavy reading..but some definitely do.

I screwed up my freshman and sophomore years, but I rebounded a little my last two years. Still not where I want to be, and I've ruined any chance of Harvard or Yale Law (though I DO stand a chance at the Harvard bschool, woot).

Enjoy yourself, and take college for what it's meant to be - a chance to experiment and learn about yourself, and a chance to learn a hell of a lot about random subjects.

That's true I had to agree with that. Most professors I have so far relied on both lecture notes and textbooks. The only one prof . made me and my classmate study a whole textbook, and literally must know the information (history...american history) But in other words..yeah the book is equally as important as lecture notes. Depends on the professor, doesn't hurt to ask :)

sell back your books as soon as you can. you might think you'll use them again sometime down the line but 5 years later, mine are still in 2 boxes that have not been opened since they were originally taped up.
