If you are fresh out of college and can't find a job within a few months or have been in college for many years and still have not decided on a major, I suggest devoting 2 years of your life to the Peace Corps. Not only are you doing some good, but you will also be able to network with the old and rich.

The peace corps looks stellar on any resume, imo. Another thing to consider (after getting the degree) is teaching english in another country.

My wife and I looked into enrolling and doing a tour together, but when she inquired they said they require a college degree. Unfortunately she doesn't have one.

I would love to join the Peace Corps but the whole mortgage, kid, and student loans kind of kills that option.

Really? I don't remember which language organization I looked into, but I do remember they specifically listed "college degree" (AA or higher I think) as a requirement. The peace corps is who my wife talked to.

A little OT....

Why do you need to go outside the country to teach English?

Seems to me there should be pleanty of opportunities in the south/soutwest. :p

Last time I was in Pheonix... I thought I was doomed... no one spoke much english until I got to the office.

Many don't want to learn english there. That being said, I live in Texas and one of my friends is teaching her neighbors english. They are a really sweet Mexican family, the kid that comes over the most brought over tres leches when I was there the other day. YUM!
