Tips for leaking swimming goggles?E

I've gotten into swimming laps recreationally (just 500m-1km after a weightlifting workout as a nice, light resistance/cardio exercise). I've had a pair of goggles for just a couple months--some clear speedos with a one-piece non-adjustable nose-strap. They've worked pretty well up until the last two times I've swum. The left goggle now lets water in. I'll seal it fine, but as I start swimming, when I go to breathe on the right side I must stretch my face in just the right way that it opens the left side a crack. By the end of one 25m lap I have to stop and empty it out. It's getting very annoying, but I dont' want to have to go out and buy a new pair if there's any trick to fixing them. I've never had problems before, so I'm pretty sure I'm putting them on correctly. Just wondering if any ATOT swimmers had some tricks/tips. Thanks.

EDIT: Yes, I obviously know the easiest thing to do is just throw them out and get new ones, but decent ones are $30+ around here where I can find them (Australia), so if people who actually swim have some tips, as opposed to random people who think they're being cute by stating the fvcking obvious, please let me know 🙂.

new goggles possibly?

Seriously, they are done. Try to get some that fit better next time.

They worked fine for a month. How am I supposed to get some that fit better? I can't try them on before I buy (they're behind the desk).

what do you want somone to say? Do you want a big secret that allows you to magically fix a ruined seal? My vote is for Gorilla Glue.

while uncomfortable, does it still fill with water if you tighten it up a bit?

Yeah, I tighten as much as possible. Just figured there might be something to rub on them or something to improve fit.

What the hell do you need goggles for you pansy?

I suppose you wear those stupid nose plug things too.

You can't ask the person working behind the desk if you can try them on before buying them? 😕

Go ahead. Swim about a km for me with no goggles (like a real swimmer, no doggy paddling) and I want to see you without (a) chlorine-burned eyes or (b) bumps on your head from crashing into the walls.

Hopefully you have both.

😉

I do swim...chlorine doesn't bother me as long as the pool is kept at proper pH.

And why would you crash into walls because you don't wear goggles? Does wearing goggles make you some kind of better swimmer? Why the hell would I crash into walls?

stop doing cardio for a while, eat like a pig, let your face fat fill in the open spots
