Tips: Automatically set affinity for *.exe files

Hi

It bothered me quite a lot that I had to set affinity manually, in order to run two instances of F@H and/or other programs efficiently.
I then looked around and found this great little prog, which even comes from M$. It enables you to alter the executable in order to make run on a particular processor (both SMT/SMP).

I have tried it, and the messages I get from the CMD-prompt seems OK, but I can not check whether it is doing what it should do, as I can't get acces to setting the affinity manually on F@H. (Don't know why)

Anyway, heres the link to the file and a tutorial.. Hope someone else can use it.

If this program by any chance is nothing but a well known secret... well, I would to know it...😉

Kind of funny... I have been visiting Anandtech for years, but I have never visited the forum before lately. 😱

Sounds interesting. 🙂
And welcome to the forums.

BTW, the best way to run folding@home is to use FireDaemon to install f@h as a service, and firedaemon has affinity as one of its parameters. 😉
Seti already have affinity-switch built-in.

Hi Rattledagger...

Thank you for the tip about Firedaemon, I have to check it out, to see what it is...
I'm already running it as a service, using another program, but if Firedaemon has a built in "support" for affinity
it is most likely easier to use.
