Tipping the bagger

I shop at the Commissary, those military will know.
Well its like pretty much a Meijer, Super Walmart, Glens, Farmer Jack, etc. etc.
Anyways they have baggers there, and a big red sign above that says
"Baggers work for tips only, thank you"

Now normally it wouldn't be bad if you had the option of choosing a bagger or not. But each lane has a mandatory bagger, who refuses you to bag your own grocery, nor allow you to take it out (push a cart) to your car by yourself. Then wait impatiently watching as you load the groceries into your car, only to stick around pissy until tipped...

Now I can see a benefit to this if you were a pregnant female or an old person. But I am in the military and I would think that I am in physical shape to bag and god forbid push a shopping cart to my car.

Normally I would tip if I had requested to have a bagger in the first place. However given the situation that you are forced a bagger that either pays a guilt trip on you or gives you a hard time about it...
I must say I have subcumbed to just forking out a few bucks to just get the hell outta the parking lot now...

What do you guys think?

I tipped the bagger the last time I went to the comissary - but that's just because I was buying some stuff for a squadron picnic and couldn't haul all the crap out to the truck I was driving by myself. Plus - the bagger was cute, so that's got to be worth a few bucks :p

Every other time, though, I take my groceries to my own car.

If you asked for help, tip.

If they run up to you and sit there until you give them money, tell them to fvck off.

How do you manage to take your own groceries out to your car by yourself?
I swear my wife hates grocery shopping now after our commissary experiences.

I live by myself - my weekly grocery shopping list consists of rum, juice, soy milk, bread, wheat thins, and the occassional lunchmeat and peanutbutter or jelly :p
