tipping in a buffet

Tipping is all dependant on what you wish to volunteer above and beyond what you're required to pay (what's on the bill). Give tip to whomever you wish in whatever amount you wish -because it's 100% up to you for both.

It's all included in the cost of this overpriced plate.

Yeah. And don't let anyone bully you into the whole "my employer doesn't pay me enough" bullsh|t. It's YOUR money, not theirs. If they want more, they should get a second/different job.

Gah... retracting claws... 😉

Completely dependent on the level of service, and the amount of interaction with the service staff.

Also have to agree with Nik. I myself generally tip very well depending on the quality of the service, but have been known to forego gratuity altogether if the service provided (or rather, not provided) warrants such.

I used to work at a banquet hall. Are there waiters taking away your dirty plates / filling your drinks / getting you extra stuff when you want it?

On holidays, my boss would print newspaper ads in the paper for a certain price for the buffet and it said tip was included, but as workers we never got a dime of the "included tips" on holidays.

So, do whatever you want, but it's always nice as a server to get a tip, especially if they're working on a holiday.

What, you don't get a paycheck?

Yeah, but tips are nice on holidays too 🙂

We get exceptional service at the buffet we went to last weekend. Never had an empty glass and our plates were gone before we could even push them over to the side. We tipped 15%

Have you ever worked as a waiter? (or waitress, whatever you may be)

you should at least tip a buck a person at a buffet...that is if service is decent...if its supurb then 15% is not anything too much.
0% all the time for buffet = 🙁

0% if I have to get up and serve myself. I've been to some buffets where they serve you what you want from your table. At those, normal tip.
