Well.. with all the tipping threads lately... i figured i'd ask one.

Do you tip when you get your haircut? If so.. how much?

I have been going to the same barber for 20 years... i tip him $2 everytime i go.

I go to a salon, not a traditional barber shop, but if you were happy with the service you should at least tip 20%.

Oh yeah, I think I would tip anyone who uses sharp metal objects on my head. :)

<< $2 is really cheap. You should tip more. >>

the haircut itself only costs $8 ... i don't go to no girly "salon" ... i go to a barber shop.. with a barber pole in the front..

$2 is enough in your case. That's a 25% tip. If you went to a salon, I would tip at least $3.

I cut my own hair, and I'm into self denial. No tip for me.

I usually tip $2-3 depending on my wait time and what I think my haircut looks like.

I tip $5, because I'm a PITA customer. My work schedule doesn't usually allow me to schedule an appointment in advance, so when I get a chance to leave in time to get a haircut she has to fit me in between other appointments or stay after closing. She never has any open appointments unless I can get one three days or more in advance.

I tip $4-6 on a $11 haircut but that's because I don't go in for just a trim (I let it grow long before having it cut pretty short). I think I once tipped $10 but then again, I didn't get a cut for four months.

Dear god, when growing up at home about 10 years ago, my mom bought one of these - one of the worst haircuts i had ever received. I ended up shaving my whole head off.

I'd say that the difficulty of the haircut should be taken into consideration - for example, it costs me the standard $12 to get my hair cut at Supercuts, but the haircut consists of basically cutting straight line across the bottom of my hair. Five minutes, tops. Hence, I don't feel like a cheap jerk tipping $2 instead of more.

I tip two dollars on a 12 dollar haircut at Hair Cuttery here in Florida, I think that is reasonable. :)

Tip a barber!?? The local shop is run by the owner and his son. The posted price is $9...that's what I pay.

Most places are outrageously priced to begin with. I've gotten haircuts on the road and have paid $20 bucks plus and I'll be damned if I tip some kid right out of barber school when I don't tip my own barber and he has more experience cutting hair that they have putting their own underware on. And they do a lousy job to boot!
