tip the carwash guy?

i just got my car washed at one of thoe automatic carwash places for the first time... they do the prewash thing by hand. are you supposed to tip these workers?

Is there a tip box? If so, then, yes. If not, then I'd lean towards no.

then you can tip yourself by having a beer affer you are done slaving in the sun because you are OCD and have to detail every precious inch of your car because your are obsessed.

I only tip the guys who dry the car at the end.

I spent ALL day last sunday hand washing and detailing my car, inside and out, making it very nice, smelling great (cinnamon) and making it sparkly. Then that night it got all windy and of course a nice sprinkly came along. Little dots EVERYWHERE ruinning my otherwise wonderful job 🙁

Now at a car wash place most give u a 5 day "weather" guarantee or something like that dont they?

oh and to stay on topic...i only tip when i go to the cheerleader fundraiser car wash things 😉

Yes but I don't tip at places where I think they might be stealing my change.

One time, I went to this one car wash with about $10 in quarters in my ashtray. When I got my car back, it was all gone. Taking a couple coins is one thing, blatantly stealing all your change is another.

Nope. Guy who vacumns the car and drives into the actual car wash already steals my change anyways. If I see the guy that dries off the car dresses the tires or does a good job on leaving no streaks on the windows, he gets a buck or two.

I've gone to places where the guys drying the car come in packs (so they do cars faster). There's no way I'm giving each of them a dollar. But if it's just 1 guy drying, I'll tip him.

When I used to be a car wash coupon whore, I'd tip only because I felt like I was getting such a good deal. Recently I bought an unlimited monthly pass, so now I get my car washed twice a week and I don't bother to tip.
