I am using Tiny Personal Firewall and it seems to protect my system very well. Now and again I get a message that a site with address (i.e.) 255.255.255.255 port 67 is trying to send you information. My question is how do I know what the numbers stand for: such as Microsoft, Anadtech, etc. It's hard to make a decision especially when I don't know what site wants to access my computer or send me information. Any help would be most appreciated.

you should not get a message from each site you browse. i would deny it. if you notice that a specific service on a site is not working because it seems to be blocked, just permit it next time. that is why there is a one-time deny and a permanent deny feature so you can test. the only time i needed to permit something to browse the web was the first time i opened IE. also, in teh lower pane look what .exe or .dll is being accessed.

Thanks Wart. I really like the program just didn't understand exactly how the program operated.

I've been reading the directions on the Kerio personal firewall and I'm confused on a few things. I have one PC connected to an ISP. Also I do not use my Administrator account to connect to the internet. I use my Poweruser account. What would be the best setup for me? Should I use an Administrator password? My ISP does have an IP address and I have specific DNS numbers.

I would like to keep an eye on anyone who may be trying to access my PC for information. My local and remote address says "all" and I haven't the slightest idea where the numbers next to them came from.

What do you all recommend?

Incoming to port 67 is DHCP I believe. If you block that, after the lease on your ip expires and your computer tries to renew you will not get an IP. So if you want to be able to surf the internet without rebooting, I would enable local port 68 from foreign port 67.
