I have TPF and I run Win XP home. I have the firewall set to load at startup. It loads fine, but if I want to check the status or change options by right clicking on the icon, I get this error message:

Unable to connect to PersfEngine! - error 0x8007274D

Anyone know why it's doing this and how to fix it? System specs are in the signature. Thanks a lot.

interesting, the PerfsEngine i think is what cntains all the "rules". sounds like it is corrupted. i would uninstall, run regcleaner and easycleaner, and reinstall. bump for more ideas.

the first time u used tiny after u installed it, do NOT click always or never to the permit/deny checkbox. try installing tiny to a diff directory. are u a big tweaker? maybe u have some service stopped in ctrl panel that tiny needs. other than that i am prety stumped too.

I checked on the TPF Support group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tinyfirewall.

All of the messages referring to similar errors point to having another firewall program installed or a bad uninstall of one. I've heard numerous horror stories about ZoneAlarm killing a system because it doesn't always uninstall properly. Make sure you don't have any other firewall software running, including the built in XP Personal Firewall. Start-->Settings-->Network and Dialup Connections-->Right click your lan icon, advanced (or whatever the last tab is). You'll see the option to enable/disable the firewall.

Hope this helps. If not try reading through the support group.
