Yeah, i'm thinkin of doing this just for music and movies.
My video card has a RCA video out so it's ready for one.

Does anyone have pictures of this kind of mod or articles of how/where they put it in?

I've not seen a really good guide to it yet (I'm thinking of building a shuttle with one in), but there is a brief guide here

Try the forums here -they are for shuttles, but inbuilt screens are a popular idea there, and the mechanics are pretty much the same. If only I had the cash, I'd be trying to build one of these right this second!

*EDIT* Check this page out for a very good howto.

wow thats beautiful....i may buy a shuttle when i make a new pc....whats the most PCI slots do those mini machines have...i've seen two so i guess that it, right?

Hmm. having a screen that comes with no case would certainly make it easier!
If you are hoping to use it for movies etc then something like that would be perfect.

I did read that if you want to display text then you should use a vga input, as the detail quality is much better, but I've not seen one in the flesh so I'm not sure. I'd want one for checking trillian / email while watching movies or playing games etc.

And, yeah - the problem with shuttles is the lack of pci ports./ only one cd bay, but you can't have it both ways. I'm starting to wish I hadn't bought my new lian li but had started a new shuttle box instead. With onboard sound etc, etc, the only pci slot I need is for my TV card, and I'd appreciate the space saving a shuttle would provide.

Maybe this page will give you a few more ideas on screens - its a compilation of people car-pc projects. some of them look pretty cool.

But for looks alone, that modded shuttle wins every time - you can keep your Xaser IIIs!

my 27" tv is my second monitor right now...its good for movies and pics but text is a nono....even at 680x640 haha

Really? Crap. There goes another plan of mine... All I need is one screen thats great for text work as well as great for movies. Watching DVDs on my monitor isn't great - it always seems a bit dark, however much I fiddle with brightness and gamma, and there's always a tiny bit of blurring...

Anyway, I haven't got the time to try modding with an LCD just now, but I'm still tempted to get one of those xenarc displays for the hell of it. I'm still trying to justify the cost to myself though!
