Tiny dumps AMD for first love Intel

insane

Intel RULEZ!!!!
When Northwood comes out it will blow anything insight. I hope AMD get their acts toghter fast

http://www.theinquirer.net/03070105.htm

THE TINY GROUP appears to have jilted the AMD Athlon and fallen head over heels with its original love Intel, according to sources close to the firm.

Tiny, which is a major force on UK high streets and also has a presence in the US, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China, caused something of a stir when it switched from its all-Intella line to include the AMD Athlon range too.

But insiders tell us that at heart the folks in the know hankered after chip monogamy, and their old sweetheart La Intella, and it didn't take very much sweet talking for Tiny to ditch AMD and embrace their old love yet again.

Or something like that. Really, we're sure the move was made as part of a strategic business decision and if anyone from Tiny cares to contact us we'd just love to put its side of the affair

WTH is tiny? I have Tiny software firewall, is that the same company?

BTW, when typing a message with a link, their are little buttons above the text box that you can hit in order to "hotlink" the url. In this case the button you would need is ther HTTP button. This could actually make one of your posts remotely interesting. 🙂

Intel rulez what? They just bring out a new chip that costs an arm and a leg still roped to RDRAM that costs much more than DDR and SDR RAM and this new processor has a clock speed that is 400 MHz higher than the highest Athlon and it is just barely able to beat it. Yeah, the new northwood is coming out, but so is the new Athlon 4 at speeds of 1.5 GHz and higher. Sure the clock speeds appear slower for the Athlons at the outset, but we all know clock speed isn't everything and the bench marks tell all. I don't see the attraction to the P4 right now. It does not make sense. It costs a ton for performance that is only better in certain areas and not by all that much. Is it worth it? Not in my opinion. Is this TINY GROUP foolish for limiting themselves to one line? I think so. Why not sell everything that's out there so that you can appeal to buyers at all levels of the spectrum? Or is the P4 attractive to these guys because they can get a good markup and increase their profits while screwing their clients with over-expensive hardware that does them no good?

Okay you F**ckin idiot clock speeds do not mean anything, thats like saying a p4 1.7 ghz is slower then a SUN ultra sparc 3 600 ummmmm f**k no.
Benchmarks mean nothing, they have never meant anything, execpt for that CPU family. P4 clock speed vs P4 clock speed, amd tbird vs amd tbird, p3 vs p3, g4 vs g4 etc etc.

Looking at your sig, I see a very open minded individual.

IMO, most folk that buy a tiny pc will think more of the cpu speed as a benchmark indicator & at this time the p4s have a higher clock speed.
they may not know that the athlon at a lower clock speed will perform just as well as a higher clock speed p4!

Very true.

Tiny do cater mainly for the first time buyer.

They also make overpriced junk.

Yea, that's right.. Start a thread and pour gasoline all over it...

insane, you're a Flame Thread starting moron.

Actually, it may have something to do with Dell ordering 300,000 AMD processors- and Tiny was concerned over possible shortages........

oh no, a company called TINY chose intel over AMD

guess its all over for AMD...they have been shunned by a Tiny Company.

Tiny will rule the computing world one day. (i never heard of them) becuase the name worked for Microsoft. 🙂

actually i believe they're Dell's competition in europe, my g/f works for dell and mentioned Tiny to me

come on guys, Insane has been posting his flame-starter threads for weeks now. don't keep replying and giving him any satisfaction. he's still mad because he isn't competent enough to get his AMD rig running.

raven82, it's a lot more than 20%. 😉

For what? -5% to +5% performance? And that is at a somewhat comparable "speed" (not speed rating), like a Thunderbird 1.4GHz to a P4 1.8GHz.
