I ahve tint all around and I previously had tinted tails. If they suspect you they'll use it as an excuse to pull you over. I think tinted tails look good on black cars but opted for a safer option.

Depends on how dark you tint them.

If they are blacked out, you could be asking for it.

If you just tint them a little bit but the color is still visible and all then it shouldn't be as much of an issue. Don't know of anyone who has gotten pulled over for tinted tails. Key is tinted vs black.

so in a nutshell, not worth the risk?

That's for you to decide.

Tinted tails scream ricer and probably will give cops every chance to stop you. Especially in a Scion (if that's what you were driving). Heck they're probably citing for every little thing in CA right now. The state must need all that revenue desperately.

Yea I usually drive with my front windows down so they won't have an excuse to stop me.

So next time you'll be stuck with a speeding ticket?

It will vary by states but in most it is going to be illegal. Now whether they stop you for it is going to completely depend on the jurisdiction your in. Obviously you know you tint is illegal(with good reason) so why give them another reason?

Would've been cheaper than the tint ticket.

Legal as long as they still reflect....

Which would mean u could tint it next to none. But cops around here don't seem to mind.

um... i think a non moving violation doesn't have the long term impact that a speeding violation would. I'd rather pay the ticket for tint than a speeding ticket, even if the tint ticket is a little more.

I've been looking into a lighter tint for contrast purposes (slightly darker red looks better) and I thought I read that as long as the brake lights are still visible from X distance, they are legal...?

My friend got pulled over for speeding. Cop actually made him roll up his windows and gave him a ticket for the tint.

What do you do when it's 20-30 degrees F outside?

I live in LA. It never gets colder than in the 50's at night.
