How come tin foil does not get hot when you throw it in the oven? It metal right? But it doesn't get hot? wakarimasen 😕

It does, it just releases heat very fast...that's why it's used for heatsinks.

Aluminum is used for heatsinks, not tin foil 🙂

Who actually uses tin "tin foil"? Do they even sell tin foil? 😛

Fun Aluminum Facts (from http://www.benchtest.com/alum&copp.html)

Thermal Conductivity @ 0 - 100°C-
Aluminum- 237 W m-1 K-1

Specific Heat @ 25°C-
Aluminum- 900 J K-1 kg-1

Linear Expansion Coefficient @0-100°C-
Aluminum- 23.5 x10-6 K-1

Weight 2"x1"x5" block-
Aluminum- 0.9818 pounds

What is Specific Heat? (From http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/thermo/spht.html#c1)

The specific heat is the amount of heat per unit mass required to raise the temperature by one degree Celsius. The relationship between heat and temperature change is usually expressed in the form shown below where c is the specific heat. The relationship does not apply if a phase change is encountered, because the heat added or removed during a phase change does not change the temperature.

jeebus, somebody explain the concept of specific heat...i'm too lazy.

somebody please 🙂 cause i just heated up some jenos pizza on tinfoil and i grabbed it right out of the oven. my alpha pal8942 doensn't dissipate (sp.?) heat that fast 😉

dighn is correct, try this ;

Take a 2 to 3 oz piece of aluminum and a piece of tinfoil, place both in the oven at 250 F, heat for twenty minutes, now remove both, the larger mass of aluminum will retain the heat much longer than the foil.
