Timing of 780ti & Nvidia Holiday Bundle

So the holiday bundle is from 10/28-->11/26.
The 780ti is said to be available "mid-november".

It could reasonably asked, why would you announce a holiday bundle but make people wait 2 weeks to take advantage of it (basically guaranteeing that sales are then depressed for those 2 weeks)?

The only logical explanation I can come up with is that the 780ti specs and pricing will be announced before/on 10/28 and will be combined with price drops for the 770 & 780.

I just don't see why anyone would purchase an Nvidia card today with the bundle literally just around the corner, or why they would even purchase one then until they know the 780ti price impact when it's expected to be available just 2 weeks later. Am I crazy?
 
..because AMD is launching various cards between now and the end of the month. Nvidia would rather give a reason to wait for as the market saturation of their current line up is pretty high.

People are waiting for AMD's R290x, Nvidia just gave people an alternative.
Sales are not depressed anymore than it already has.
 
I guess what I'm selfishly asking is: is it wishful thinking to expect both a price cut to the 770/780 AND being able to take advantage of the holiday bundle (which ends before December) at the same time? Or is that actually the general expectation of what's going to happen?
 
I guess there is a chance of price cuts right before the 290x and 290 are actually available. the 770 is already a poor value and its way past time for price cut. 2gb models should be $299 with 4gb models being $349 or less. the 780 will need a massive cut too of course. I am hoping for decently priced 770ti option too.
 
I dunno, but their timing has me considering an nvidia card depending on the price, and I have been considering a new monitor so Gsync is also making me consider waiting instead of buying a new AMD R290X right away. If anything it will make me wait and see how everything shakes out by Thanksgiving.
I won't spend more than $550 for a new gpu either way, especially if it's not much faster than what I have (10-15%).
 
I cringe at spending more than $550 as well, but with my planned SFF 1440p build I feel like I need both more than 2GB of VRAM and a blower style cooler to push hot air out of the case. Both factors make me lean towards the GTX 780, but a price drop below $600 would make me feel a lot better about it.

FWIW, while I may be pro-Nvidia I was definitely considering AMD's new cards until Nvidia's announcements a few days ago. I'm interested in all 3 games being bundled, and I'm apparently one of the few that is actually interested in purchasing a Shield. Between the $100 discount and the capability to essentially turn it into a streaming Steam Machine in my living room with console mode, it looks like I'm staying in the Nvidia camp for the forseeable future.
 
Desktop users shouldn`t complain.

Try a mobile GPU like GTX 780M. That one will cost you around $900, and its only a GTX 680. :awe:

if all this waiting does not get the gtx 780 close to $500.00 depending on the r9 290x cost ,I'll wait for the 20nm
why?
- chips been around for 18 months
-2 x crippled
-could be eol Q1 2014
-only 3 gb vram
but that's me as I'd buy 2 with block's.
but it look's like nv has added to it's mind share with gsync , maybe instead of price cuts.
but for you you have the games and shield so that takes it under 600.00
 
The 780m chips are indeed expensive! But, the lower end SKUs aren't - 750m laptops are cheap and plentiful, most of them being sub 1000$ from a ton of vendors. Many much cheaper than that.

I really don't think i'd bother with a 780m unless I *only* gamed on a laptop, and I generally prefer a desktop system for that use.
