Time zones: Messages from the future!

Maetryx here, 😎

ShotgunSteve and I are both in Alaska timezone. We both appear to have our timezones set the same (GMT -9.0). Yet when he sends me a PM, it is always timestamped 4 hours into the future.

I double checked my timezone, and mine is definitely GMT -9.0. ShotgunSteve tells me that he is set for Alaska. So what's going on?

edit: when I look in the history, the times are all correct! Weird... I know they were from the future when I first opened them.

<< Have him PM you some winning lotto numbers 😉 >>

Good idea. Or I could PM him the final score of the Super Bowl, and we can clean up in Vegas. 😀

This Edit is at 10:15 P.M. Alaska Standard Time. Just to see what the Time Stamp will be.

Well, that checks out O.K. Weird.

Hey ShotgunSteve, remember back when TV was offset an hour or two in Alaska? A person could actually find out the results of a game before it was televised here. Hell, elections are STILL this way, since we only have 3 electoral votes, and our late timezone always mean the thing is over while we're still on the way to the polls.

Anyway, here is a sample of the timestamp from a PM from ShotgunSteve: Date Posted: Tuesday January 08, 2002 11:26 PM . But it's only 9:33PM right now, and he sent that message two hours ago. Due to a separate but equal problem in Opera, sometimes I get the same PM over and over again. That's why I still have the 11:26PM on my screen. In the history section it correctly says the message arrived at 7:26PM.

if it makes you feel any better we are even further displaced in the temporal comtinuum here in Hawaii (GMT -10) 🙂
