Time Warner drops ' Current TV ' after it's sold to Al Jazeera.

I know ignorant people somehow have this idea that Al Jazeera is the terrorist news network or something. People who know their ass from a hole in the ground however know it's just a news station that happens to be based out of the middle east...

Al Jazeera allowed many of us to watch the egypt revolution unfold as well as events in other countries well before US main stream media would touch it.

how are they racist? seems like a perfect time to drop a channel few watched, and fewer will.

Believe it or not, people actually make decisions for reasons other than race.

There are a lot of cable companies that don't want to carry Al Jazeera.

I wasn't aware that a cable channel was a race ;) So a worthless channel gets bought out by some other crappy company. Nothing wrong with dumping it.

In the minds of racists, every decision someone else makes must be purely based on race.

Ignorant people? Remember when Bush bombed their studio in Baghdad? They were behind 9/11 just like Saddam Hussein.

Edit: Seriously, this isn't racism, just in response to it. Profits are in danger when the rabid right gets its panties in a bunch over TW putting some Muslim news network on their TV.

Viewership is an easy excuse for them to use.

However they did drop it as soon as it was purchased by al jazeera. Which would suggest they don't want to be connected in any way w\ al Jazeera because it's regarded by ignorant people as the terrorist news network.

So they're dropping the station because it's now owned by muslims. Who they apparently thing may as well be terrorists.

^its also because any carry contract they had was with current TV and not with al Jazeera.

Even if they do associate Al Jazeera with terrorism -- and you've provided no evidence of that -- it doesn't make it "racism".

Look at the viewership that is still sticking with cable. Fox News, ESPN, and reality TV watchers. I'm not certainly defending it, but they know who their customers are.

Viewership is an easy excuse for them to use.

Once again, your racist brain assumes that other people do things for racist reasons and only seek out excuses (like viewership) as "cover".

There are a million reasons why a provider might not want to carry a network. It was a worthless channel to begin with, and having a worthless channel with very few viewers is bad for business.

However they did drop it as soon as it was purchased by al jazeera. Which would suggest they don't want to be connected in any way w\ al Jazeera because it's regarded by ignorant people as the terrorist news network.

Why would they want to be connected to al jazeera in any way? What's the benefit?

Actually they don't want to deal with all the false hysteria the CEC will gin up.

No, there isn't. Why? Since when is religion a race?

Religion is a race in the eyes of fools, the same type of fools that believe Obama is a Muslim because his father was once before he chose to be an atheist.

I've read Al Jazeera articles many times and my general impression was that their reporting was quite good.

Bush didn't like them because he couldn't control them and get them to accept the restrictions he put on American media. They reported from places that were put off-limits to U.S. reporters and allowed interviews with ordinary people who thought the U.S. sucked because they blew up their neighborhood. Bush was in high gear with his "if you are not with us, you are against us" mode.

I am sure I'll watch and see what they have to offer.

OP's racism rant is is ridiculous.

It would be interesting to see Al Jazeera easily available to North American homes; as stated, their coverage of the Arab Spring was really the only thing worth watching, and they bring a perspective that is somewhat different.

Time Warner will ultimately add whatever brings in money, so I'm sure that a successful Al Jazeera America channel will make its debut if it makes fiscal sense.

Are really so ignorant to think Muslim is a race? You do know there are Muslims of all colors right?
The proggie deck has fifty-two race cards and a couple of jokers - in case you need to play the race card. Accordingly, the definition of racism must be stretched to cover anything they dislike, be it tax cuts, a religion, a language, Christmas, or cheese sandwiches. It's the Leatherman of arguments; there's literally nothing it can't do.

It's pretty telling when Al Gore is considered credible "enough" to keep around, but not terrorist guy.
