Well last night was an interesting night of nights,
I was driving home late, at around 2 am, from college back to my house, and well...
I saw a cop who had pulled someone over on the side of the road.
Next to that road there was a parking lot. I absolutely abhore cops, and want to harass them as much as I can, within my legal boundaries (which apparently I dont know to well or well enough)
So... anyways I decided to pull into the parking lot, roll down my window, harrass the guy a bit while he was giving a ticket, and then pull away.
So I roll down the window and say, "hey, you giving that guy a ticket?" (I assumed it was
a speeding ticket, which i think is load of crap to be giving those out at 2 am)
He replies, "uhh yea.."
Then I said, "That's pitiful, how about you get a life instead"
He said nothing, and I pulled out, and started driving away.
While I was pulling out he began flashing his stupid light into my car, and I said, "Hey why you flashing that silly light at me, it's kind of hurting my eyes you know"
and he said, "What, you wanna pull over beside me or something?"
at that I just gave him a confused look and pulled away.
So I was driving down the road and it didnt look like really anyone was following me. The officer was still pulled over way back on the horizon, and I saw another car from another street, maybe 200 ft back, pull up and was behind (but i didnt think anything of it, because they didnt have any flashers on or anything like that)
I just end up driving home as usual, and assuming that I am not being followed.
I pull into my driveway, and just sit there for awhile listening to music on the radio while my car is in park (btw, I am 20, and this is my parents house I was at, I was going to spend the night there, instead of in the dorms)
Anyways, my lights are off and I'm just casually listening to music, and all of a sudden I see a car roll down the street, flashing their spotlight all over the neighborhood, into ppl's windows and stuff. He goes past me, then turns around, and then heads back, and this time on his way back he shines it in my car, and i look back at him confused since I figured i had nothing to be afraid of.
He gets out of his car screaming: "Stay in the car!" My window was rolled down, and my engine was still running, and then this guy shouts, "HANDS ON THE WHEEL!" "TURN OFF THE CAR! IMMEDIATELY! DO NOT MOVE QUICKLY!"
Then when the car is turned off, he begins cussing at me, and shining his stupid light in the car. I ask him what is going on, and he tells me to quit acting smart. I knew what was going on, but i didnt understand why it was this extreme. I tried opening the dorm and stepping out of the car, and then he kicked it shut screaming "STAY IN THE DAMN CAR!"
Then I ask him why he is shining his light at me, and what the big deal is.. and he told me that I had, "threatened his buddy" I told him I did nothing of the sort, and he called me a liar. And told me to shut up repeatedly. I was nice and decided to turn my interior light on, to make him feel more safe.
I told him I was at my parents house right now, and that this was rediculous and that I hoped they would wake up and come out to end this nonsense, and he was like "so you want daddy to come to the rescue" Then I told him I wanted to call my parents or at least wake them up, and he told me that wasn't happening. Then I honked the horn (since I could still do that and keep my hands on the wheel) and told them that I will wake them up by doing this, and that the officer doesnt have a choice in the matter (since im not being violent) Then he screamed for me to stop honking.
So I was going to grab my cell phone, which was on the seat, and call my parents, THEN he screamed at me to Drop the phone and keep my hands on the wheel while reaching in the window and shrugging my shoulder violently.
So I gave up on that, and just continued honking the horn repeatedly while he was yelling at me. Still my parents were not waking up.
Then I see him on his radio calling for backup (there were already 2 cars outside of my house, and they called 2 more in) So then after a minute there were like 4 cars at my house over this nonsense.
The guy begins telling the others about all this crap I did such as "Threaten his buddy, cuss at the officers, and overall being intolerant" (even though I didnt cuss once, nor threaten his buddy at all.
I start yelling out about how much of a liar he is, and then He yanks open the door and pulls me out. Him and his buddies grab ahold of me, throw me on my car, and tell me to put my hands on the car. i do so. Then the guys behind him warn be that they are armed with tasers and they will use them if they have to (the tasers were outstretched at me)
Then I am told to spread my legs. And immediate the officers start frisking me. and while this happen he need me between the legs from behind. as an instinct my legs closed back together, and he yelled "SPREAD THEM!"
Then my arms were put behind my back and handcuffed (and during this whole time I wasnt struggling or anything, I was just asking them why they were being so severe, and they told me just to "SHUT UP AND TAKE ORDERS"
Then they walked me off to the squad car, opened the door, and threw me in (just like they do in the movies) and this entire time I was not struggling and yet they were still being very forceful with me)
The closed the door, the guy got in the front seat (the jerk officer) and then he asked me what the hell I was doing back there, told me his friend was stopping a drunk driver, and began asking me if I was on drugs, or drunk or something. Which I replied no, and then he asked, "well what the hell is wrong with you then" Do have some type of condition, are you on medication right now or anything? And I was like "I am a completely normal person" and he started laughing, and told me that I was "crazy" that I was just a crazy and messed up kid, and he began insulting me, and telling this to his guy on the radio with him.
Then he closed the door, and all four of the officers moved towards my car, and began doing a full search of the entire car, opening compartments skewing stuff about everywhere,
And were like, "there are no armed weapons in this vehicle" and then 2 officers sit in the background and begin talking and basically ripping on me and laughing about me behind my back, while the other two officers are in front by my house discussing the situation.
Then I said to one of the ones in back, "what you making fun of me now or something" and he was like "yes I am"
Then finally the jerk officer comes back to the car, and tells me that I have 2 options, either that he hauls me off into jail for the night (I immediately replied by telling him that he could not do that, that he didnt have rights to, and then he told me that what I did back there was interfere with a patrol stop which is a crime and I could be jailed for it at least temporarily)
Then he gives me the other choice, which is that he wakes up my parents by ringing the doorbell, and tells them what has happened and how much of an idiot I am.
And he asks me, "which choice do you want it to be, huh!"
And I'm like "well naturally the second one is better"
And he was like "quit being smart! which one do you want it to be! "
And I'm like "talk to my parents please"
And he was like, "That's right!!" He reffered to me as a $hit head multiple times while he was walking away and up to my doorstep. So my parents come out, and they beginning telling them a completely exagerrated story about how I threatened an officer, and later was uncomplient and cussing at them (even though i never cussed once)
And then they finally the open the car door, and tell me to get out and walk to the steps. The officer says he's going to unhandcuff me, and I tell him "It's about time! Thank the Lord!"
Then he looked at me like I was blasphemous, and finally he unhandcuffed me and brought me to my parents.
Finally they explain to me that the concern was that they were worried I might have had a gun, especially because the first officer couldnt see my other hand while I was driving (cuz i only drive with one hand, duhhh!!) and then he hands over some things to my parents in a plastic bag from my car,
my keys, cell phone, and this little toy squad car that was sitting in my glove compartment. (I got it from somewhere and just threw it in my car, lol) and then he made a comment like, "And I dont know why on Earth you'd have one of THESE in your car, I mean that is so ironic that it's stupid!"
And then I opened my mouth and was like, "why are you trying to make fun of me now?" and then he shouted, "Don't get smart with me!! Don't make this any worse than it already is!"
And I asked him if there was ever going to be any way I could talk about this with someone, because I told them I thought it was essentially inhumane to the extreme, and he said "No. This conversation ends here"
Then I told him that I had no respect for stupid cops like him anymore, and he cut me off and said, "JUST STOP, LISTEN TO YOUR PARENTS, THEY KNOW WHATS RIGHT"
because my parents were telling me to stop now.
so then the cops walked off and drove away.
Fortunately I am always very honest with my parents so they trusted my side of the story, They told me off the bat that they thought the cops story sounded a little off.
They were more concerned then angry. Glad that nothing bad happened. We stayed up and talked for awhile, and they gave me a long talk about how I can't mess with police because they have a lot more power than us, and that also I shouldn't escalate bad situations by digging the hole deeper.
Well, that's my story. And another example of how I think cops are inhumane and stupid. I dont care if they are doing it to "be safe". You never do what they did to someone if you dont know whats going on. What they did was wrong, plain and simple. I dont agree with the way this society works. I honestly would prefer if cops were just nice and less forceful, granted they might get killed in duty a little more often if they weren't so stubborn, but they would have a lot more people on their side if they didn't carry the 'jerk' attitude.
And I know that my story by no means is much of an example at all of this behavior. I know that what I got was NOTHING compared to some people. I know someone who got jailed overnight, just because he was black, and some girl claimed that he was 'the thief' who stole something from her. The girl couldnt identify correctly (because its harder to distinguish black ppl from each other) and because of that one of the nicest, quiet, innocent people that I know got jailed overnight because of this.
But it gets worse. People have not only gotten treated harshly, jailed, etc. But people have been wrongly accused and sentenced to years in prison when they were completely innocent!
I think our justice system has some big problems, and honestly I think we could find something better.
