Time to upgrade!

Been a while for me on these forums. My workstation is defintely getting a little long in the tooth.

Recommend me a workstation. I'm not particularly concerned with expense but I don't want to pay for something I don't need.

Applications I use include CAM/GIS/EDM programming etc. I'd like to start with 8GB RAM and dual sockets with either dual cores or quad cores. ECC memory is a MUST.

For graphics a single workstation card, PCI-E with 512MB or more is desired. It must be Esprit, Pro-E, and Unigraphics compatible.

I have a Dell 3007 and LOVE it. My aging Quadro2000FX actually supports 2560x1600 on it too.

Currently I have a MegaRAID Enterprise 1600 with 8 Cheetah X15.3's running RAID1 and RAID5. I would like to replace that with a SAS controller w/ a TON of cache and current drives with 15K spindle speed.

I don't think my Yamaha 1000SWXG is going to work on the new system so I need a card too but I'm still waiting on an answer for 64bit drivers.

I plan on dual booting Vista Ultimate 64 and Fedora Linux.

What does AT recommend?

Are you planning to wait for Vista 64 to ship retail, or going to self-install using an MSDN or other MS license?

If you're going to wait, you might as well ask this again in January, since what's best might have chnaged by then, especially with regard to Vista 64 driver support.

Also, you might look at Dell Small Business' server and workstation offerings can supply what you want.
