A buddy of mine keeps bugging me to buy my PalmVx and accesories so now is as good a time as ever for an upgrade.

Here are some of the things I like about the aging Vx:

- VERY good battery life
- slim and light, even with case
- runs all of my software

Here are some things that I would like to be a little bit nicer:

- Screen. Mine is only 160x160, and 4 bit greyscale.
- Expandable memory. Only 8mb is a hassle.
- USB. Serial just sucks any way you look at it.

MP3 and WiFi capabilities would be bonus but not necessary. I use mine now for reading 90% of the time, and also for games, legitimate uses (like the address book), reference, conversion, shopping lists/directions, etc.

I would prefer Palm OS as all my applications that I use now are suited for that, however if someone gives me a convicing reason I'll hop to the darkside and try a PPC. :) TIA!

How are those on the battery? I hear some of the PPC's can clock throttle to save battery while reading. Know of any deals at the moment Ross? :D

I know my dell axim can last at least 4.5 hours on the standard battery, if i use wi-fi in low power mode, somewhere closer to 6 if I play mp3s with headphones on. It can underclock itself to 200mhz from the standard 300mhz, maually or automatically.

My father has the 400MHz Axim and it is nice, but too bulky for me. I'm used to my Palm lasting several solid shifts of work reading, so I will probably get nailed on the whole battery thing. I know there is one of the new PDAs out there that can clock down to 10% automatically if you're reading a book, but I forget which one. Might have been a Sony, but that's not PPC.

My HP iPAQ 1910 is my fifth PDA in 2 years.... And I am in love with it!

The only way I'd get rid of it, is if I had a 2210/2215 to take its place. ;)

I just read up on the 2210 on PPCcity and it is about the coolest one I've seen so far minus that clamshell sony with the 320x480 res and keyboard that isn't out in the states yet I don't think. :) I couldn't find the 2215 listed however, what is the difference on that unit?

wow, i bought my first Palm VX about three years ago and have since changed PDAs:

1. HP Jornada
2. Toshiba
3. Audiovox Thera
4. HP Jornada
5. Dell

nothing came close to the ease of use of the Palm though.
