time to upgrade or wait?

my system:
a64 4000+
2gb pc3200 ram
agp 8x
10k raptor
xfx 6800gt

so, i know the whole system needs an upgrade, but i really want to wait until next fall and ill upgrade the entire system. in the mean time...i'm thinking about getting a new video card to help power the 37" 1080p westy i'm about to buy...
so, what should i do?
get a x1950pro agp
dont upgrade yet, just wait until i do a whole system upgrade
or something else?

i will be running xppro sp2 at full 1080p res on the desktop...and i want the same in-game

i picked the $250 x1950p for mine - a lesser AGP system instead of dropping a couple of Grand 😛

i am upgrading the whole rig next y...

Well, the X1950Pro is probably the best bet your gonna have on AGP.

Should hold you over but don't expect full eye candy in games at 1080p (at least I don't think your gonna get it).

You resolution is just what the new 8800 cards were designed for. (but you have AGP)

It all depends. Do you have the money ($$$) now AND more $$$ later? Or just enough to get the 1950?
There are many different things you can do. You can try and squeeze the last life out of the 6800GT and try running that at 1080p or you can get the 1950pro now, or wait until you do a full system upgrade and get one of those fancy new 8800 cards.
