I have a wireless router in a back office and my PS3 in the living room. The house is pretty small so distance isn't a big issue, but that's why I'm connecting wirelessly. I also tend to use my laptop in the living room.

My router is starting to have issues. I will randomly lose my connection to the router. I'll be in the middle of a PS3 game and it will say I was disconnected from the access point. Moments later it reconnects.

I need a new router, but also I might explore options for boosting the signal getting to the PS3. I've used Netgear, Linksys, and Belkin. Netgear just sucks and I won't ever use them again. I've had issues with Linksys but could have been an isolated incident. This router I have now is Belkin and has served me well for a while. I would consider other brands but only with more than one suggestion.

Also, the router currently sits on the floor due to repositioning of furniture in the room. Would having it higher up help at all?

If there is any way possible, I would run Cat 5E directly from the Router to the PS3 that is the best way to maintain connectivity, barring that a Linksys 54GL is always a good bet.

The signal travels usually in a V horizontally from the Antenna, kinda like >1< if the router were the #1 and assuming the antenna is Vertical so the signal travels out usually in a 360 from the Antenna so Higher is better in general in most every setting.
