Time to upgrade from GeForce3 Ti200 to Radeon 9600 Pro?

What do you think. I'm running GeForce3 Ti200 and was thinking about upgrading to a Radeon 9600 Pro. If I make the upgrade I can shift the GeForce Ti200 into my FreeBSD UNIX box because there are driver support for it on there and the 9600 Pro becomes my full time gaming card.

So far the G3 TI200 seems fine 1600x1200 in counter-strike on my XP 2000 but I want to futureproof for HL2 which drops in November.

I'm in a similar situation, Ti200 oc'd to Ti500. I've been very close to upgrading quite a few times.

It sounds like you're waiting for HL2, like me. I'm waiting until the game I want to play actually comes out before spending money on a card. I figure that prices might drop in the next month or so, maybe enough to get a 9800np for the closer to the price of a 9600 Pro.

Wait til you need a better card and then you can probably get a 9600pro or better for less.
I would probably try for a 9700np or a 9800np if you can find one. When are the 9900's coming out again?

Then get a 9600pro - if prices drop perhaps you can get a 9800np
Or maybe there will be a "9650 pro" that'll come out on the same price or something

Go for it. If you can save up some more for a 980/Pro by waiting, then wait, otherwise just go get one.
