TSX. Get a 6-speed TSX. Pretty good combination of luxury, mileage, reliablity, fun... WOO.

At one point last year I was definitely considering one but obviously things change, so...
:)

Just go test drive them cars you've listed.

mom has the IS250. it's NICE. the interior fit and finish is a total "omg wow" factor. The car looks ultra sexy too. But ya, it is pricy, but damn, the interior is friggin temptress.

I could never find a stick TSX to drive. The dealers only had automatics :(. The 6 speed is one of the main reasons I bought the TL and not an auto TSX.

'07 G35 Sedan FTW!

Or a Hemi Charger or 300C? 345HP

C-Class. Best looking car of the bunch and all the luxury appointments.

325 gets the win for most sporting. You can keep the price down by special ordering a base 3-series. Who needs heated seats?

The TSX is a buzzy 4cyl good for 200HP. Getting that 200HP takes some work as you must keep the revs high to enjoy the car. around town it is dull. Great MPG though!

IS250 is overpriced.

A4 is pathetically slow unless you get the V6 or V8 models. 200HP from a turbo 4 through a AWD system that sucks power.......

G35 >>>>>> IS250 > TSX

Although I will concede that the TSX and IS250 interiors are slightly better (materials and build quality) than the G35.

Too much bias against VWAG reliability to objectively include the A4 in the scale.

the accord V6 MT is faster, cheaper, and significantly more luxurious. yes, i've driven both. actually, out of the list in the OP, the accord V6 MT is faster, cheaper, and roughly equal in luxury to all of those cars. you can get one for $25K pretty easily.

More luxurious? Probably. It isn't faster though. A turbocharged AWD 250 HP legacy is going to beat a 244 hp FWD accord.
LGT 5MT does 0-60 in 5.3s. Accord V6 6MT does it in 6s. Oh, and you have that little issue called TRACTION.

Honda's only sporty competition is the S2000, and that is quite a different car than any of these.

it's probably close to a wash if you can get the fwd accord to hook up. Honda added power in '06, and subaru lost power on paper due to revised SAE ratings. It's 244 hp for the accord vs 243 for the subaru now using the same ratings. The accord also has a 200 lb weight advantage actually.
You're forgetting the turbo. Forced induction generally gives faster performance at similar HP/TQ ratings.

I wouldn't get any discussed except the G35. Audi's maintenance is a no-no for me, and the Acura/Lexus are underpowered. G35's V6 is mighty torquey.

Maybe consider an STI Limited or Legacy GT Spec. B? Probably not as nice as the Lexus, but a lot more balls than anything and I'd rather own a Subaru than a Nissan (Infiniti).

I'm not looking for a racer, I want luxury.

0-60 is only one metric. More likely than not, the V6 6MT has a higher trap speed in the 1/4 mile. Which means the accord will likely pull harder at high speeds. AWD hurts performance twice from anything but a dead stop because the additional drivetrain mass adds curb weight AND rotational inertia to the entire driveline.

It's funny, i'm actually looking at the same cars you are (minus the A4 only because I don't trust Audi's reliability)...

I'm leaning towards the TSX myself. While I know i'll regret not getting the 6-speed, I just had surgery on my right lung a month ago to correct an issue with the damn thing constantly collapsing and as a result driving my current car, a stickshift, can get painful at times. This car is probably the best "deal" when it comes to entry-level luxury sedans.

I'm waiting a few months till the 07's can be had at invoice and more importantly to see if they have any finance deals (does Acura ever have finance deals?) Sure I can pay cash but i'd rather keep my money in the bank earning interest and just pay the 2.9% for 60 months...

the auto tsx acceleration suffers a fair amount. you can browse vtec.net for a review on this.

also, can you even get 2.9% on an auto loan these days? When i last asked for qoutes everyone was qouting 6%+ for 60 months.

Gadget and value: TSX

Handling: A4 and 325

Low end torque and power: G35 sedan

If you own a Mazda 3 before, I think a little more torque will provide most fun out of the driving experience...hence...G35

I think his lungs are important than getting 1 second off 0-60

just to throw in another option, try driving the 2007 Saturn Aura XR. it's a 3.6L V6 250HP and it seems to handle very well. the interior is classy and looks nice from the outside, imo. it's got a year of On-star (voice turn-by-turn directions), XM radio, and a nice looking interior. it's even got a remote starter standard on the XR :p my only complaint is that they skimped on the leather on the back of the driver/passenger seats. it's an ugly plastic.

other than that, definitely give it a whirl. i found it had plenty of kick when i pushed it and it gripped the road very nicely. felt very sporty and tight.

i know it's a Saturn, but i think it's a great price and it surprised me when i drove it. i think it's worth a look as a sporty mid-sized sedan.

Just noticed, A4 for handling???
You mean the wheels well over the front axle, heavy, FWD chassis A4 for handling?
LOL, good one.

A4 also comes in AWD.

That, and I can't believe the Accord V6 is being compared to a Legacy with its detuned STI engine. I'll put my money on the Legacy GT any day of the week on a track or stoplight.

Legacy
243@6000 / 241@3600
3415 curb

Accord
244@6250 / 211 @5000
3371 curb

Now, if you're talking about every day grocery getter for mom, then accord wins. You can't even get the accord in wagon form.

Doesn't hide the fact that it's still riding on a FWD chassis. Engine is still transverse mounted, well over the front axle.
