Time to renew my web host

I am on a free preview with 1&1 hosting and the end of the road is approaching.

I already have a purchased domain name and the website has been set up for a while now. Not sure if I want to go through the hassle (if any) of transferring to a new host, but they are offering me 3.50/month ($42 for the year) for the Home package. That's a little better than the current ad they have for the public of 2.50 for the 1st 6 months, 4.99 thereafter ($45 for the year).

Here's what I get with the Home plan.

The Question: Are there any better deals anywhere else??? Anyone have any suggestions??

Edit: I also need support for frontpage extensions

How much space/bandwidth do you need? Does it have to be windows based? I use this company:

http://www.cernax.com/

$25 per year for your site: http://www.cernax.com/plans/shared.html Yes it does support frontpage extensions even though they're linux servers.

I have a reseller account and host many sites. Its rock solid. I have NEVER had a problem. I've had a few configuration issues on my end and they've ALWAYS helped me with it promptly.

I host a lot of pictures, so I think I am going to need more than 50mb space. I am looking for about 500mb space for pictures, videos, and other content.

I use http://www.hostpc.com/ and am happy with it.

The owner, Joe, is a member here on AT and seems very responsive to any issues and concerns.

They do promotional offers a couple times a year -- usually "double quotas for the same price" sorts of deals. So if you go with hostpc and have the time, you could wait for a deal.

I also just checked out that "ASO" post above this one, and it seems very affordable -- but I've never heard of them before.
Whatever you pick, maybe check out http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ for additional opinions.

I had the same thing with 1and1 - Professional Preview Package. I just decided to stay with them after that 3 year package ended. I figure I owe them at least something for providing me with free webhosting for 3 years 🙂

It seems that 1and1 has everyone beat in terms of monthly prices. However, hostpc.com has a 34/year offer on the budget plan which offers slighlty less than the 1and1 home plan, but $34 is cheaper than the $42 1and1 plan, and seems to get the job done. I will have to think about this.

Edit: anybody know if there is any diffference between "Frontpage 2002 Extensions" and frontpage server extensions offered by 1 and 1?

If you're happy with the service you have received from 1and1 then stick with them.

Personally I would get a cPanel resellers account for $53/yr. Yes it's more but you get some nice extras which 1and1 doesn't offer with your account.

Thanks for the mention SagaLore 🙂

OP - If you want to work on a custom plan of sorts, drop me a PM.
