So my boss just left the office for the day for some family issue, (actually her husband just got one of their cars impounded) and im just trying to figure out when to leave. How long before do you take off after your boss leaves? There are still plenty of people in the office, but i dont think they'll notice.

Yup, time it right, but don't wait too long after the boss has left. A few years back, my boss left early to pick his mother up from the airport. I then left about 1.5 hours after he did. As I was getting close to my house, I noticed that his car was in front of me with his mother in the car. I then took a fast left and dodged out of there.

Had I waited for 15 minutes to pass after he left the office, I would have never pulled up behind his car.

I would give him 30 minutes. Sometimes people forget something in the office and have to come back.
