AMD closed at $8.60
NVidia closed at $8.848

Always risky but will they really go lower? NV30 is out soon. AMD getting ready for Hammer.

I've noticed the past that AMD's share price was somewhat linked to how much 'steam' the athlon architecture had going for it. When the athlon was released and sold, AMD shares went up and continued to until the P4 started eating away at the Athlon's new gains in marketshare. Now, AMD shares are in the can. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that might happen again, depending of course, on how good the Hammer is.

This all as I recall though, if you're really interested, you should look into it yourself, the information is easy to find. I should mention that I hold shares in AMD right now.

That's what I thought about the stock I hold when I was buying them at around $20. Now they are worth 1/2 to 1/4 of that.

Both could get a little lower (but not a lot), so if you were to buy now, they are really good long term holds. Both show promise suchs at the NV30 and the Hammer.

Hey, it was $0.15 a share. If, in five years, it goes back to trading $10-15 a share, I made a few bucks. If not, I'm out $750.

But didn't they go bankrupt? Are the stocks still traded?

Yeah but once you add in the broker comission, even the online discout ones in Canada start at about $24 a trade, you'd be screwed :p;)

I don't think I'd buy either AMD or nVidia now, they'll probably go even lower, but in the long run they should be fine and you'd likely make a nice profit.
Yep Worldcom announced another 3.3 or so billion in accounting fraud today. For the guy that asked Worldcom was delisted by the Nasdaq but can still be bought OTC (over the counter).

Edit: apparently I was under by $800m on Worldcom today, oh well what's a few hundred million matter :p

If you buy both of them, I'm sure you'll make a nice profit. They might go lower, but they will surely go higher (if they are good honest companies).

They have declared bankruptcy. It's estimated that it will be a year before they come out of bankruptcy. The stock is not being traded on the NASDAQ as 31 July. You can buy them over the counter through the pink sheets Pink Sheets. It's a gamble but that $750 is such a miniscule part of my total investments that it is worth the risk.

I plan on buying some Worldcom if it drops to around $0.08 again. The lower it goes the more I can get. :) It's already at $0.10, maybe by the time I'm ready to buy it will be at $0.05. 5,000 shares for $250 anyone?

I just need to come up with $500 to fund my Datek account.

Personally I wouldn't buy AMD. I would like to recommend NVDA at this price but every "analyst" and "expert" on earth is urging people to sell NVDA, even now. No one has anything good to say about it, which scares me. The only glimmer of hope I found on NVDA was at the Library, according to Value Line they have NVDA's target price at $120, and that was as of a coulpe days ago. That's a 2 year figure. So if you buy it now, buy for the long run.

Do you know what kind of people work at Valueline?

I know a bunch of people from there and it is basically a sweatshop of smart people with no Wall Street experience who want to get in the door on Wall Street working for minimum wage.

I wouldn't go by anything they say despite how wrong analysts at bulge bracket firms are. At least the ones at bulge bracket firms get access to company management.

Well there you have it then. Don't buy NVDA, and don't listen to ValueLine.
