Time to buy ... Flatscreen...?

I'm heading to college come August and I want to put together a new gaming system in late May - early June so I can have it all summer and then take it to college with me. Now.. due to the inadequate desk space in my future dorm room I'm going to have to buy a flatscreen monitor. I've never been a huge fan of 'em, but that's just the way it's got to be. Now.. I COULD wait until August, right before I leave to pick one up and use a temp CRT that I have sitting around until then. The question is, will it be worthwhile to wait? Yes yes I know computer technology.. more time = less money for better stuff, etc.. etc.. But I'm wondering if that 2-3 month period will make a huge difference. Suggestions/advice? Thanks in advance. 🙂

I suppose you mean LCD when you say flatscreen. For a dorm? One thing that comes to mind is being much easier to steal. 🙁

Even if technology doesn't significantly improve (e.g., sub-16 ms response for 19"+ panels), the prices should still drop. Nothing is more painful than looking at the price of Dell's 1900FP these days after paying $1100 for mine last August.

Also, regarding security, look into the Targus Defcon1 Ultra. It's meant for notebooks, but loops around/through LCD bases just fine. Anyone who moves your monitor will get an earful. About $25 at buy.com IIRC.
