Cliff - Dell may buy alienware, they explain why they think this, and seems a plausible idea.
Alienware use AMD a lot => Dell can start to talk to AMD, but have an excuse if Intel gets bitchey.
Also, it means AMD can slowly scale up to be able to meet the eventual demands should Dell integrate the CPUs fully in place of intels offerings. Obviously this would result in a huge increase in sales for AMD, and also, doubtless increase public awareness that a PC doesn't have to have an intel logo stamped on it, which could also boost sales. Profits could be on the up for AMD, and share price may explode if Dell starts talking more seriously about turning to AMD...
So, could it be a good idea?
Discuss. 🙂
