I'm wondering what state my Skyrim install is in... until consulting an old thread I hadn't the foggiest memory how I even did mods in Skyrim!

It might not happen overnight, but if it gets too rough on Nexus most modders will eventually move to another site; or plain and simple create a new one. If Nexus "hurts" modding, it's not like modding will magically stop. People will react and adapt to the new situation and move on.

My assumption is that there will be more modding found perhaps on specific Discord servers or just other sites out there (existing ones, or new ones eventually). Nexus just happens to be the 'biggest' one, right now. But doesn't have to be the "only one" in our minds. It's up to the new owners, if they want to make it hard on the modders and players they'll see the consequences; Nexus will gradually just be abandoned and become unprofitable.

ModDB will likely explode overnight if they start trying to force monetization on Nexus. I doubt discord groups will gain much traction simply due to how many scammers use discord to prey on people and the moment a server becomes populated enough, the bots and scammers are never far behind. Even if people opt into private servers, it'll be like a slow bleed for the modding community, so moving to a new or pre-existing site will be the safest bet.

Looks like all EU/UK users will be required to upload a government issued ID if they want to download mods with adult content in the future. So, I guess you're stuck with deciding between seeing some pixel tits or risking all of your information getting stolen or sold. Personally, I'm more interested in seeing what the updated ToS looks like when they make everything "absolutely clear".
