Anyone own a time-share? I've had it for a while now and didn't really have time to vacation and use those weeks. I wonder if I can turn my un-used weeks into profits. Or maybe there are some kinda organization or firms out there that buys un-used weeks? Anyone? TIA

There are companies that allow you to rent out your vacation week to others. I have a time-share that I barely used I've been up there once and not on my vacation week. I can't remember offhand who does the rentals of time shares weeks. I have a letter at home I can post the information for you later on today...

I remember seeing some commercial for Century 21 saying they bought time shares.

Dracos,

Please do let me know once you have that info. Thanks a million.

bunker,

I do not wish to sell my time-share since the market is really bad at the moment. I just want to rent out weeks that I'm not going to use. Thanks.

I think it really depends on the specifics of the company with the time share. I know that some let you roll your unused weeks over to the next year, others don't.

Did you purchase your timeshare through a timeshare company or a broker of sorts?

since a few of you already have time shares, do you recommend them or not? I went to a presentation recently (free dvd players!) and they wanted about $25k for the time share. And the system worked on points, which can roll over into next year, etc. anyways, i just wanted some opinions from some guys who already own :) thanks!

Personally, if you ask me would I do it again? I don't think so because I don't travel as much. Also, it wouldn't be as bad if you can profit from the un-used weeks. Hope that helps Que-TiP.

time shares are the biggest scam from the 80s and 90s. i have never ever heard a good thing about em, all i do is go for the two nights free lodging.

You spend X amount of dollars to buy the ability to use a condo/etc for a set amount of time each year. The idea is they get 52 buyers for each property, and each person gets it a week a year (or 26 buyers and two weeks).

IF you want to buy a time share try and buy from someone selling there weeks as they will usually take a lot less then the timeshare company:)

I know of a few people that have them mostly they like it. I would not like going on vaction to the same place every year thouhg:(

Well alot of timeshares are apart of bigger organizations. Like mine Silverleaf is a part of RCI travel. SO I am able to trade in my timeshare week at my timeshare lodge and go to a different one around the world. Of course u have to pay extra for that.....
