Time Releases their Top 10 Video Games of 2007

Not too bad overall, at least my GOTY is on there (Bioshock) and Honorable Mention ( Mass Effect).

The only W T F on the list for me is Ace Combat.

I think they forgot the PC gets video games too. They probably should have gotten more system specific too. I doubt COD4 on the DS is quite the same as on the 360/PS3.

I'm not sure about Ace Combat 6 being on the list.... Bioshock should be higher than Halo (single player wise...), but of course, Halo is loads of fun multi. Orange box and Rockband I agree totally. I think Halo is a solid no. 5-7 game though, and not no. 1.

QFT, think about how many good games didn't even make the list..

Ratchet & Clank FToD would be in my top 10.. I might even hazard a Crackdown mention. I had an absolute blast with that game on XBlive.

How about Assassins Creed ? I haven't played it yet, but quite a few people seem to be enamored with it. At least enough to put it in their top 10..

WHile I think R&C is definitely one of my top 5 games of 2007, it really isn't anything new/innovative. It's just an evolution/transition to the next gen console. It's just kind of a solid sequel w/not much new gameplay wise other than some new weapons and stuff. And the space shooting is tacked on and I honestly would have rather it not be in there. It definitely looks pretty though.

You could say the same about Halo 3 as far as it being more of an evolution, although it's online interface and features is just HUGE and ads tons and tons of replay value. I still don't think Halo 3 should be #1 but I think it should be in the top 10 somewhere because of it's lasting appeal online.

Yeah, of course you're right, but you could eliminate quite a few from the list based on that criteria. Then again, maybe I am over biased because R&C was the first title since the launch that had me actually turning the PS3 on to play a game.

I try not to put too much into stuff like this.. For me, my top 10 is "what ten games did you have the most fun with this year?". R&C is definitely on the list.. I also give that game bonus points because I don't usually like platformer type games. It was starting in the negative so to speak.

And come on, if they have room for Ace Combat on there surely there is a spot for R&C

I'm actually surprised a list from Time is so close.. I really don't think it is (entirely) based on sales, otherwise there would be about 2-3 DS/Wii flopware games.

People will always have differing opinions on the order, but I'd say they actually got the titles right. Ace Combat probably doesn't belong, but I've never played it so I can't say. Maybe Uncharted is deserving of a mention instead (or even Forza 2)? I haven't played that either, but it looks pretty good.
