Time periods in your life

Sitting here thinking about some of the jobs I used to work at, what my family and I used to do on the weekends, when my kids were little.

I was thinking about this company I used to work for. They were a rathole place, no health insurance for my family, no vacation, couple of paid holidays, basically just a paycheck. Besides the drawbacks, I liked working there. The job was easy, low stress and we worked 4 - 10 hour days. It was really nice getting a 3 day weekend every week. When we worked a friday or saturday it was overtime, and that was very, very rare.

The company got low on work, hours were cut, so I had to look for another job.

In a way, I miss working there. I think it was the low stress that I enjoyed. The job was not boring, but it was not stressful either.

The job I am thinking about, I worked there 18 years ago. Even though it was only 18 years ago, it seems like a whole other life.

Its as if my life is in phases with certain phases connected, and others not connected.

Maybe I am just getting old.

At age 25, I see what you mean. I was thinking about what I've done since high school (age 18). In that time, I've had a few girlfriends, a few jobs, a few bands, and met some cool people along the way.

I have a hard time keeping in touch with everyone all the time, but life happens and we press on. I think it's a good thing that we have different "eras" in our lifetimes, allowing us to experience as much as possible.

I would say that for me, "right now" is the best "era". I do miss some other eras though...such as living at home and hanging with friends for hours on end, or doing homework during the day in college and then spending the rest of it just playing video games or chilling with friends.

Everything went to hell after I turned 6. Most of the magic disappeared, and now it's all gone.

By the time I was 25, I had a career, 3rd child was on the way, and had bought a home.

Well good for you. Sorry I'm not as good as you are, dick.

At least I'm not dealing with shit head kids. I've got everything else though.

Don't be that way, to each his own.

As if everyone at 25 wants to be tied down with 3 rugrats.

In way I "kinda" regret having kids so early in life. But then again, my wife and I had kids when we were both young and healthy.

Now at 44 years old my kids are almost grown. The only one left is my 15 year old daughter.

Hell no.
I'll be 31 soon and no kids in sight. *sigh of relief*

The longer you wait, the higher the risk of birth defects and a difficult pregnancy for her.

I do know of people in your like situation, a year or two difference here and there.

They're mostly miserable now, but I guess when they get through it they'll have freedom in their late 40's as opposed to many "career women" not shitting out kids until 40 and later.

I'm willing to bet a lot of people lost a decade to Everquest/World of Warcraft

I could not imagine starting a family at 40 years old. Just when the kid finishes high school and starting college the parents will be a couple of years from starting their retirement.

As I look back, I don't know what time period is worse, the teenage years, of having to deal with the inlaws? At least with the teenage years you know they will come to an end. With inlaws that cause problems, there is no end in sight.

My wife and I started young, our kids are grown, and now we can enjoy our own lives.
