Time Machine question

I want to use Time Machine but I have one question.

Is it possible to use it to back up stuff that I don't want on my Macbook?

I have a lot of ROMS that I just want to keep but I don't need it on my Macbook, just the Time Machine Backup.

Is that possible?

If you simply transfer those ROMs to your Time Machine drive then there they will sit until the drive dies.

Yup, you can just make a separate folder on the drive for your ROMs and if you keep any on your macbook, you can exclude that folder from being backed up since you already have a backup of them.

I do this with all of my media files and to keep the size of the backups short and small and I manually back up any files for projects I'm working on so it doesn't have 30-40 iterations of files I already have different versions of.
