It is time for a computer upgrade. I have 200-300 dollars that I can spend.

Current system:
Mobo: DFI lanparty nf4 ultra D (939 system)
CPU: AMD 64 3000 overclocked to 2ghz
memory: 1gb (2X512) of kingston value PC4000 DDR
GPU: Sapphire tech radeon X700pro
OS: Windows XP fully updated
Monitor: 17 inch CRT
Power supply: Enermax Noisetaker ATX 12V V1.3 370W, connected to mobo via 20 pin to 24 pin converter

Upgrade options:
1. Faster CPU: AMD 64X2 4600 or so (~$230)
2. Increase memory to 2Gb by buying another gb of kingston value DDR (~$70)
3. Change memory to 2Gb of mushkin high performance or equal quality cosair memory and remove the kingston memory (~$220)
4. Upgrage GPU something in the $250 range from either Nvidia or ATI
5. Wait and upgrade to Vista when it comes out
6. Change monitor to either a 19 inch or 19 inch wide screen LCD (~$200-$300)
7. Change powersupply to enermax liberty 620 (~$160) or seasonic 600W power supply

I am more interested in what area you think should be upgraded first not the actual product that should be bought. Thank you in advance.

Change to an enhance 5150 PSU, and you should save $80 or so...
Unless you really like the enermax liberty 620... But yes, that's where I say your upgrade $$$ should go.

With a 7600GT and another gig of ram you will be able to play just about anything at fairly high resolutions.

I am assuming you are looking for an upgrade for gaming, correct me if im wrong though.

Yep, most of the upgrades are for games, but the system also needs to be stable I do some work on it as well.

That was a tough one. I picked 4; the LCD was a close second, but I think the video card would have to come first. An extra gig of cheap ram is always a good option as well.

I am a little surprised at how this poll is turning out with upgrades to the graphics card, monitor, and powersupply leading the way. Oh well keep voting and lets see which wins.
