time for a video card...

My video card has gone the way of disco. I'd like to pick up a new PCI-E video card that has all of this:
[*]will have acceptable performance in GTA4 (which is rumoured to be coming out in October)
[*]Will have enough power to last through a motherboard and processor upgrade or two, so that it'll last me three years at least
[*]cost less than a European vacation
Right now I was looking on Newegg at the 8800s, which after rebate cost right around a hundred bucks.
Decent choice?

8800gs($80), 9600gt($120), 8800gt 512mb($140) and 8800gts 512mb($170) are good performance/dollar cards in that order of performance. 9600gt would be the weak one as it's much closer to a 8800gs than a 8800gt in performance so I guess try to get 1 of the other 3.
However, if you aren't going to need it until GTA4, wait 3 weeks and see how the new ATI cards fair as they are supposed to be very good performing cards as well so their presence may push all the other cards' prices down.
