Time for a new PSU?

Hi all,

In my system I'm running an Antec True Power Quattro 1200W that I bought in the 2010/2011 timeframe. This PSU has been running like a champ for years, but it's about five years old.

Would it be a good idea to replace it at this point? I don't know much about the typical lifespans of PSUs but if it is likely that due to its age it is liable to go kaput at any moment I'd like to replace it.

So, PSU experts, should I replace it or might the unit have a long life ahead of it yet?

Thanks!

I think we've all been thru such discussion a number of times already.

Mainly, "if it ain't broke then don't fix it" (unless you prefer to want to fix it till it's broke).

What's the warranty period, and does it have all Japanese capacitors?

If it's still under warranty, regardless of cap quality, I'd probably still continue to use it, unless you are having issues with it.

If it has Japanese caps, then I might use it up to maybe 8, maybe 10 years, assuming that it doesn't give you any problems.

5 years, and I am not sure.

I think it's probably out of warranty at this point, but not 100% sure. I don't quite remember if I bought this unit in 2010 or 2011.

I'll have to dig around the Web to see if this particular model has all Japanese caps. Thanks!
