Today's offer in the mail is for 0% interest on purchases and balance transfers till April 2004, no annual fee, no balance transfer fees, a 7.9% fixed APR after the intro expires, and a limit up to $15,000 (usually they give me about 8 or 9k).

I think my 2.9% intro card is near the end of the intro period now... time to switch.

I remember that there was a brief period of time in which I actually had to TRY to get a credit card, and one with crappy rates at that. This way is much simpler.

Wish I could get a decent interest rate... I think mine are 14% and 19% on my amex blue and capital one cards.

My equifax score is 702, but it doesn't seem to matter. I guess that's what I get for having a year of credit history.

If you have a card that generally people are getting better rates on then you, you should call every six months and request a lowering of your rate. They should do it if you've been in good standing with the issuer.

I pay off my card every month, so I'm more interested in cash back. I use the Amex cash rebate card.

call the credit card company and tell them that you are getting much better offers then what they are offering and that if they can't help you by reducing your rate you willl considering canceling your credit card with them

With Crapital One, you likely aren't going to get anywhere unless you actually do cancel it. Mine's stuck at 15.4% and they had no interest in lowering it (and I can't cancel the card or the average age of my accounts would plummet like a rock)

I can't see the point in paying more interest just because it would lower the average age of your accounts. If your payment history is good, that is going to be far more important. If you want to change cards, just practice the First Law of Wingwalking: don't leave hold of what you got until you got hold of something else. Get a new card, then drop Capitol One.
