Anyone wat to go to cars.com and pick one out for me? within 50 miles of 53142. Should be fun to see the sarcastic replies and the serious ones.

Looking for a car, maybe a svu looking to spend 5-10k. Car needs to last 4 yrs at least. I really dont like tauruses.

I'd go look at this one.
I bought pretty much the same car (same color, same trim) about a year ago and I love it. The 1996-up town cars have solid transmissions, the 4.6 V8 is as reliable as engines get. Only maintenance you might face is leaking air bags in the rear suspension, but this is a fairly cheap fix and if they've been replaced in the last couple years you won't need to do them for a while.

It's worth getting the Cartier over the Executive and Signature models for the 96 and 97 model years as the FoMoCo, in cost cutting mode, dropped the dual exhaust off the lesser two trim levels so you lose 20 horsepower.

It might not be your thing and I'd understand because lots of people think I'm weird (21 year old who decided his perfect car would be a 97 lincoln, and then bought one), but I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

The car eats highway miles like nothing else I've ever been in, the seats and ride are so comfortable that the drive between houston and saint louis flew by and didn't really tire me out at all. It's big enough to make a good people-carrier if you've got to drive your friends around alot. Nobody would accuse it of being a race car, but 210 HP is adequate for the machine, and it delivers the power to the rear wheels so when it's wet or snowy out you can get a little hard on the throttle for some fun. It's not terrible on gas (i've gotten around 22mpg on my car since I've had it). It's probably the most well equipped car you'll find for 5800, heated seats, memory seats, climate control, good stereo (don't know if the one in the link has a CD player - mine has a 10 disc changer stock), awesome seats, fun trip computer gizmo to go with the digital dash, mine has vanity mirrors for the back seats, etc etc. A word on the digital dash, it's well sheilded enough that I've never had trouble reading it.

If you want a cruiser you can't beat a town car.

edit:

Here is one with pictures. I prefer the silver color, and the vinyl top really isn't my thing, but as far as the interior and all that goes this car is pretty close to the first listing.

How about a Saturn VUE. It's not exactly a sexy car, but it's cheap and decent. The brand depreciates so much so quickly that it's foolish to buy one new, but I'd certainly buy a used one for the right price (I see some pretty good deals on SL2's all the time)
