Time for 4gb of RAM?

Ok, I'm sick of BF2 running slow as hell, so I decided I should upgrade my 1 gig of RAM. Now, I hear in the forums that things just don't work quite as well with 4 x 1 gig sticks of RAM because windows will only allocate one gig to a program. However I have Windows x64 which I believe bypasses that problem, correct? I also heard something about having to use a 3gb switch, if I do, just say yes and I'll search how to do it. So I was thinking about picking up 4 x 1gb sticks of corsair xms c2pt, any opinions?

Thanks guys.

You are correct that you will need XP64 to "see" all four gigs...otherwise, XP32 will only see 3 to 3.5. Make sure you have the latest BIOS for your mobo.

If BF2 is the only reason you're upgrading your RAM, just get another GB of RAM, not 3 more GB.

DDR is going to get phased out in a few more months, so buying 3 more GBs seems foolish to me, especially considering that no games out there right now (that i know of anyway) will benefit from more than 2 GB.

4GB is completely useless. 2GB is perfect for BF2.

4GB is not useless. It's useless for gaming and useless for those on a 32-bit OS, but it's not useless.

I was saying that based on the OP. He said he just wanted better performance in BF2.

1GB is fine for bf2 with your gpu - assuming you run ~1280x1024. see my bf2 ram usage in sig, save your $$$$$$$$$$$
