1. Can you rename the 500 gb hard drive on a 1st Generation Time Capsule?
2. Can you partition the 500 gb hard drive on a 1st Generation Time Capsule (and assign names to the partitions?)

Yes. Airport Utility>Select Time Capsule>Click 'Manual Setup'>Click 'Disks'>Click the TC Disk>Rename
